Regulation Status

• Missouri has not enacted a comprehensive AI statute or a dedicated generative-AI law; its only AI-relevant provision on the books is a long-standing amendment to the criminal code addressing computer-generated child sexual abuse material. Section 573.010 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri expands the definition of child pornography to reach computer and computer-generated images depicting an actual minor, or an image of an individual indistinguishable from that of a minor, engaging in sexually explicit conduct; existing criminal penalties apply.
• As of 2026 Missouri regulates AI harms primarily through generally applicable law rather than AI-specific rules. Multiple AI bills have been introduced in recent sessions covering deepfakes, government use, and consumer protection, but none has been enacted into a broad AI-governance framework, leaving the state without an omnibus AI or automated-decision statute.
