Regulation Status
- On the basis of the available record, Somalia has no comprehensive, binding AI-specific law captured in the digest; its engagement to date is bilateral and regional cooperation rather than a dedicated national AI statute.
- Somalia's documented AI engagement is primarily international, agreeing in September 2025 to cooperate with Saudi Arabia on regulating AI and space technology, signed by Somalia's National Communications Authority and Saudi Arabia's Communications, Space and Technology Commission at the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-25).
- Somalia is also within the Arab League context where the Secretary General called in February 2025 for a regional AI regulatory framework aligned with Arab values, addressing large language models and generative AI and localisation of the AI industry.
