Regulation Status

• Poland has no national binding AI-specific statute yet in force; it applies the EU AI Act while its implementing Act on AI systems advances through the legislative process.
• As an EU member state, Poland applies the EU AI Act and is building its national implementing architecture: the Ministry of Digital Affairs opened consultation on a draft implementing law (October 2024) establishing an AI Development and Security Commission and a consultative Social Council, and designated the Children's Rights Ombudsman, Patients' Rights Ombudsman and National Labor Inspectorate to enforce fundamental-rights protections for high-risk AI.
• UODO has been active on AI, cautioning against use of DeepSeek over data-protection concerns (February 2025) and proposing a law against harmful deepfakes (September 2025); Poland also signed a US MoU on cybersecurity and emerging technology (2024), joined a 20-authority data-governance statement (2025), and urged the EU to probe TikTok over suspected Russian AI-generated content (December 2025).
• A draft Act on Artificial Intelligence systems, covering operators and deployers of high-risk AI, was adopted by the Council of Ministers (31 March 2026), with the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO) submitting an opinion to Parliament in April 2026 welcoming the removal of provisions infringing its data-protection competence.
