Regulation Status

• No comprehensive AI law enacted yet; multiple draft bills and proposals under legislative consideration, covering AI governance, ethics, deepfakes, labor, and sectoral regulation. National AI Strategy Roadmap 2.0 and Center for AI Research launched to guide innovation, talent development, and ethical AI ecosystem. Government actively developing regulatory frameworks, with ongoing calls for a dedicated lead agency or authority for AI oversight; no single unified regulator yet established.
• National Privacy Commission has issued guidelines on AI and privacy, requiring impact assessments, transparency, and compliance with data protection laws. Sectoral regulators (e.g., Central Bank, Commission on Elections) have issued advisories and guidelines addressing AI risks such as scams, misinformation, and election integrity.
