Regulation Status

Oman has no comprehensive, binding AI-specific law in force; it relies on policy documents and a draft national AI policy under consultation.
Oman's Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology released a draft National Artificial Intelligence Policy for public consultation (5 August 2024, closing 28 August 2024), a framework document on the development and use of AI, AI data governance, and transparency and accountability that includes a National Charter for AI Ethics.
An earlier national AI policy document, Future Opportunities for AI Applications and Advanced Technologies in the Sultanate of Oman (2021), calls for the ethical, fair and safe use of AI and for reviewing and updating laws to stimulate AI adoption, while at regional level the Arab League called in February 2025 for an AI regulatory framework aligned with Arab values.
