Regulation Status

Morocco has no comprehensive, binding AI-specific law in force; a National Agency proposal remains a bill while activity centres on data-protection cooperation and international frameworks.
Regionally, the Arab League Secretary General urged scholars in February 2025 to draft an AI regulatory framework aligned with Arab values and interests.
Morocco's data protection authority (CNDP) is internationally engaged, signing a February 2026 MoU with Portugal's CNPD on personal data protection covering AI, and joining a 2024 global statement of data protection authorities on data scraping; Morocco also adopted the Paris Charter on AI in the Public Interest in February 2025.
A parliamentary opposition group in Morocco proposed a bill in April 2024 to regulate AI by establishing a National Agency for Artificial Intelligence to implement a national AI strategy, raise awareness and address misuse such as cyber-attacks and misinformation.
