Regulation Status

• The Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) does not have an active Digital or AI strategy or policy, nor specific governing laws around privacy and data protection outside the telecommunications context. Sections 349 and 350 of Title 21 of the FSM Code mandate telecommunications providers to maintain customer confidentiality and implement security measures. In 2020, the World Bank approved a $30.8 million grant to improve FSM's digital connectivity, support broadband services, establish digital government foundations, and strengthen the legal and regulatory environment for the digital economy.
