Regulation Status
- Malta has no separate comprehensive national AI statute; its binding regime is delivered through implementation of the EU AI Act, with the MDIA as the responsible authority.
- Malta will implement the EU AI Act, with the Minister for the Economy and Enterprise stating in June 2024 that the Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA) will take the necessary steps to keep Malta at the forefront of AI regulation.
