Regulation Status
- Lebanon has no comprehensive, binding AI-specific law in force; its approach rests on a national strategy and regional cooperation rather than dedicated legislation.
- Lebanon set out an early National AI Strategy in Lebanese Industry (2019) covering 2020-2050, which calls for the development of legislation, laws and basic regulatory frameworks to govern AI technologies and enhance cybersecurity.
- At regional level, the Arab League Secretary General urged scholars in February 2025 to draft an AI regulatory framework aligned with Arab values and interests, addressing developments in large language models and generative AI.
