Regulation Status
- The Eastern Africa Sub-Regional Forum on Artificial Intelligence (EARFAI) is a regional cooperation and standard-setting body, not a national regulator, convened with UNESCO.
- At the July 2024 UNESCO-EARFAI forum in Nairobi, ICT ministers from East African countries adopted the Nairobi Statement on Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies in Eastern Africa, which approved the African Union Continental Strategy on AI and the implementation of the Readiness Assessment Methodology in the region.
