Regulation Status

• As an EU member state Denmark applies the EU AI Act; the available record shows no separate comprehensive national AI statute, with regulation handled through the designated supervisory authority and sectoral instruments.
• Denmark engages regionally, with Nordic data protection authorities declaring cooperation on AI and children's data (2024) and the Nordic Council of Ministers funding a Nordic-Baltic AI Centre (2025); the Danish Parliament banned DeepSeek on its devices over surveillance concerns (2025).
• The Danish Agency for Digitisation was designated in April 2024 as Denmark's national supervisory authority for AI under the EU AI Act; the Danish Data Protection Authority has been active, releasing an AI-specific impact assessment template (2024) and, with the Agency for Digitalisation, launching an AI regulatory sandbox (2024) initially focused on GDPR.
• The Ministry of Culture proposed amending the Copyright Act (2025) to prohibit unauthorised sharing of realistic, digitally generated imitations of personal characteristics, on which the European Commission issued an opinion in February 2026.
