Regulation Status

• Burkina Faso does not have specific AI legislation or a national AI strategy. However, the country's data protection law, Law No. 001-2021/AN on the protection of individuals regarding the processing of personal data, provides some regulation relevant to AI. This law includes provisions on automated processing of personal data and grants individuals the right not to be subject to automated decision-making. The Commission de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CIL) is responsible for enforcing data protection regulations, which could apply to AI systems processing personal data.
