Regulation Status

• Bulgaria has no separate comprehensive national AI statute in force; its approach rests on the EU framework and a national AI development strategy.
• As an EU member state, Bulgaria applies the EU AI Act; its Concept for the Development of Artificial Intelligence in Bulgaria until 2030 commits to building a regulatory basis for trustworthy AI aligned with international standards.
• On 24 September 2026, Parliament introduced the Bill on the Use and Development of AI (Bill No. 52-654-01-151), a proposed national framework to implement and clarify the EU AI Act.
