Regulation Status

• Bangladesh has no comprehensive, binding AI-specific law; its approach rests on a national strategy and policy positions.
• Bangladesh adopted a National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence (2020), which calls for guidelines on AI algorithms addressing fairness, safety, cybersecurity and transparency, together with a right to explanation.
• At a 2024 conference on autonomous weapons, Bangladesh's Foreign Minister urged the international community to avoid using AI in weapon systems and instead apply it to areas such as agriculture, medicine and climate change.
